When Berrien County manufacturers were asked: "Would a county-wide network
of manufacturing CEO's add value to your individual operation?" the resulting
answer was a definite "YES"!
The first meeting of the Berrien County Manufacturers Council (BCMC) was
held on February 18, 1997 which was just the beginning of an extraordinary
record of accomplishments.
Among the many accomplishments achieved, the two-year membership projection
was reached in seven months, an ISO/QS User Group was established, and
a Workforce 2000 initiative began with members becoming involved in educational
activities. Additionally, new suppliers and customers were created
within BCMC and a membership directory was published. Other accomplishments
include the initiation of a manufacturing wage and benefit survey, a transportation
program, and a Manufacturing Safety User Group. However, the greatest
benefit is the new friends and resources found within this peer group resulting
in a network of members who can share ideas and problem solving strategies.
